Potentiostats

Zahner potentiostats are designed to provided highest level of performance in electrochemical experiments. For many decades, they have been proven to be precise and versatile devices for any kind of electrochemical applications. These flexible potentiostats can be customized to the individual needs of the users for use in any field of electrochemistry or photoelectrochemistry.

Modular Potentiostats:

IM7x

The IM7x is a modular high end potentiostat / galvanostat including a frequency response analyzer (FRA) unit with a frequency range up to 12 MHz. It can be operated for currents up to ±4 A and a compliance voltage of up to ±32 V. With an input impedance of more than 10 TΩ || 5 pF, the potentiostat is suitable for a wide range of electrochemical tasks.

IM7

The IM7 is a modular potentiostat / galvanostat including a frequency response analyzer (FRA) with a frequency range up to 8 MHz. It can be operated for currents up to ±3 A and a compliance voltage of up to ±28 V. With an input impedance of more than 10 TΩ || 5 pF, the potentiostat is suitable for a wide range of electrochemical tasks.

The IM7c is a compact potentiostat / galvanostat including a frequency response analyzer (FRA) with a frequency range up to 5 MHz. It can be operated for currents up to ±2 A and a controlled voltage of ±14 V. With an input impedance of 10 TΩ || 5 pF, the potentiostat is suitable for a wide range of electrochemical tasks.

Photoelectrochemistry & Photovoltaic

The CIMPS system is an advanced system for photoelectrochemical/photovoltaics measurements. An additional potentiostat actively controls the light source which allows dynamic measurements like IMPS, IMVS besides standard electrochemical and photoelectrochemical measurements.

CIMPS

CIMPS

The CIMPS system is a powerful tool for the investigation of photoelectrochemical / photovoltaic systems. The system can carry out standard electrochemical techniques and special photoelectrochemical techniques like IMPS/IMVS, CLV and etc. A robust feedback loop ensures constant and reproducible intensity of light illumination during the photoelectrochemical measurements.
CIMPS IPCE

CIMPS-QE/IPCE

CIMPS-QE/IPCE is an extended CIMPS system with the capability to measure quantum efficiency (QE) or incident photon to current efficiency (IPCE).

During IPCE measurements, a special indicator is also provided which indicates if the measurement parameters are optimal for the IPCE measurement or not.

CIMPS-EMIT

CIMPS-EMIT allows the characterization of electroluminescence processes. It can be used for integral or spectral-resolved light emission measurements.

For spectral resolved measurements a UV-VIS-NIR-Spektrometer is used, for integral intensity measurements a photodiode with NIST-traceable calibration.

CIMPS-ABS

CIMPS-ABS allows spectral resolved transmittance / absorbance measurements to characterize electro-chromic processes.

A reference cell, identical to the test cell but without a test object, is used in parallel to the test cell to eliminate the light losses due to front window reflection and absorption in the electrolyte etc. This allows an accurate measurement of the absorption spectrum.
Tuneable light source

CIMPS-PCS

CIMPS-PCS allows "quantum efficiency" or "incident photon to current efficiency (IPCE)" measurements for the characterization of photoelectrodes or solar cells. Additional measurement indicators show if the measurement settings are suitable for measuring the true IPCE for different kinds of solar cells (DSSC, organic cells, III-V etc).
CIMPS-FIT

CIMPS-FIT

CIMPS-FIT allows fast light-intensity transient measurements to investigate the fast kinetics in organic, dye-sensitized, monolithic solar cells and photoelectrodes.

With CIMPS-FIT, charge migration and diffusion time constants can be measured with a resolution of 50 ns.
CIMPS-MDTR/OIS

CIMPS-MDTR/OIS

CIMPS-MTDR/OIS allows the characterization of electrochromic systems. Especially, dynamic properties of the electrochromic systems like color or opacity switching time with the current or voltage modulation. Similar to EIS, such dynamic measurements can provide insight into charge transfer and relaxation processes.
PECC-1

PEC-Cells

Photoelectrochemical cells (PECC) are designed for measurements of photoelectrodes. PEC cells are available with a window on electrolyte side (PECC-1) or with windows on electrolyte and working electrode side (PECC-2).

The PECC-2 allows front or back side illumination.

Light exclusion box

Light Exclusion Box

The Light Exclusion Box (LEB) is recommended for every photoelectrochemical / photovoltaic experiment. The LEB also works as a Faraday cage and eliminates the typical artifacts induced during low current measurements.

External Potentiostats

Extend the current/voltage range of the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat. The external potentiostats are controlled via an EPC42 interface card and can perform all electrochemical measurements possible with the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat. Multiple external potentiostats can be simultaneously connected with a IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat and controlled sequentially.

PP212

The external power potentiostat PP212 is used for medium power applications (up to 200 W) or in CIMPS system for controlling the light source. The PP212 is designed for currents up to ±10 A and voltage up to ±20 V.

PP222

The external power potentiostat PP222 is used for medium power applications (up to 200 W). The PP222 is designed for currents up to ±20 A and voltage up to ±10 V.

PP242

The external power potentiostat PP242 is used for medium power applications (up to 200 W). The PP242 is designed for high current measurement up to ±40 A and voltage up to ±5 V.

XPOT2

The compact external potentiostat XPOT2 adds an additional high precision channel to the IM7/ZENNIUM potentiostat for bi-potentiostat functionality e.g., for rotating ring disk electrode (RRDE) measurements. The XPOT2 provides currents up to ±500 mA and compliance voltage of up to ±25 V.

Electronic Loads

Zahner's electronic loads are specially designed to perform reliable and clean impedance spectroscopy at high currents. With an external power supply, the setup can be extended to a two-quadrant setup for the field of electrolysis.

Single quadrant electronic loads

EL1002

The dynamic electronic load EL1002 is optimized for EIS measurements on high power objects. It extends the power range of the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostats. Objects of up to 100 V can be characterized by EIS up to 100 kHz . In combination with third-party devices the current range can be extended up to 680 A .

Probes

Zahner offers special probes, which are used for dedicated experiments and aid in getting low-artefact measurements for different extreme systems, hence if the system under investigation shows very high impedance, very low impedances or very low capacitance. Special probes (like FRA-Probe or FRA-X) are also available to extend the operation range of the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostats.

HiZ-Cable

Shielded Cable Set

The Shielded Cable Set (length = 1 m) is a specially designed, co-axial, actively shielded, cable set. This cable set is designed for characterizing high impedance and low current samples. The Shielded Cable Set provides protection from the surrounding electrical disturbances and mitigates artefacts.
LoZ cable

LoZ-Cable

The LoZ-Cable (length = 2 m) is specially designed for low impedance measurements like for batteries and fuel cells. The symmetric geometry of the cables significantly reduces the influence of mutual induction.
FRA-Probe

FRA-Probe

The FRA-Probe enables the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostats to interface and modulate third-party devices. It adds an additional dimension for EIS measurements on e.g., high power devices like automotive size single fuel cell measurements or large fuel cells stacks.

FRA-X

The FRA-X enables the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostats to interface and modulate third-party devices. Current and voltage are measured galvanically isolated with a very high bandwidth. This opens up new dimensions for EIS measurements on high-performance systems such as single fuel cells with several 100 cm2 or large fuel cell stacks.
HiZ-Probe

HiZ-Probe

The HiZ-Probe is used to optimize measurements on high impedance test objects (Impedance > 1 GΩ) or extremely low currents. The HiZ-Probe measures currents directly next to the sample and amplifies the signal to overcome electrostatic noise. Typical applications are investigations on passive layers, oxides, nitrides, dielectric films, ceramic substrates, low conductive electrolytes, lacquers, coatings, and microelectrodes etc. inside a faraday cage.

Addon Cards

The capabilities of IM7x/ZENNIUM X and IM7/ZENNIUM PRO potentiostats can be extended via numerous addon cards. These extension cards provide additional measurement or control signals (like temperature, voltage or pH etc.) which can be recorded during measurement or can be used as a trigger to start a measurement. Other extension cards interfaces external potentiostats and loads, adds sequential multichannel or parallel EIS channels.

EPC42

The EPC42 is the link between the IM7/ZENNIUM potentiostat and the power and auxiliary potentiostats or electronic loads. One EPC42 card can address up to four PP/EL/XPOT devices sequentially. Up to four EPC42 cards can be installed in a IM7/ZENNIUM potentiostat. In total, an IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat can be simultaneously connected with up to 16 external PPs/ELs, which can be controlled sequentially.

PAD42

A PAD42 card provides four additional voltage or current sense channels. The PAD42 card is primarily used for battery, fuel cell and electrolyzer applications where electrochemical measurements for each cell in a stack can be recorded synchronously in a single measurement. The IM7x can be upgraded with up to eight PAD4 cards, which enables it to measure up to 33 input signals in a single measurement.

TEMP-U2

Zahner TEMP-U2 enables the temperature measurements by direct connection of two thermocouples. Two additional voltage input channels are available and provide the opportunity to record additional variables during the electrochemical measurement. For example, the voltage channels can be configured with a pH electrode or a pressure chamber to record the pH value or chamber pressure during the measurement.

MIO

The MIO provides four analog output channels with a voltage range of ±10 V. In addition the MIO card is also equipped with four isolated digital input- and four isolated digital relay output channels. The MIO addon card is used to receive and send trigger signals between the IM7/ZENNIUM potentiostats and a third-party device.
RMUX16 card

RMUX16

The RMUX16 card allows to simultaneously connect up to 16 individual cells to the potentiostat. Up to four RMUX16 cards can be installed in a IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat which allows simultaneous connection to up to 64 electrochemical cells. The measurements on all connected cells are carried out sequentially. The RMUX16 card is an ideal addition for routine and screening measurements on small samples.
RMUX4 card

RMUX4

The RMUX4 card allows to simultaneously connect up to four electrochemical cells to the potentiostat. The RMUX4 card is designed for corrosion experiments and has high input impedance. The OCP at all channels can be measured simultaneously along with one active channel for e.g., EIS measurement.  Up to four RMUX4 cards can be installed in a ZENNIUM X or ZENNIUM PRO potentiostat which allows simultaneous connection to up to 16 electrochemical cells.
TR8M card

TR8M

The TR8M addon card allows fast measurements of pulses or transients with a high sampling rate of up to 40 MHz.
PAD4 card

PAD4

A PAD4 card provides four additional voltage or current sense channels. The PAD4 card is primarily used for battery and fuel cell applications where impedance spectra or cyclic voltammograms for each cell can be recorded synchronous in a single measurement. The ZENNIUM X can be upgraded with up to four PAD4 cards which enables it to measure up to 17 impedance spectra in a single measurement.

Multiplexer

Our multiplexer are useful addition for routine or screening experiments in automated measurement setups. Sequential measurements can be carried out on the connected test objects in predefined routines or in customized protocols.

RMUX16 card

The RMUX16 card allows to simultaneously connect up to 16 individual cells to the potentiostat. Up to four RMUX16 cards can be installed in a IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat which allows simultaneous connection to up to 64 electrochemical cells. The measurements on all connected cells are carried out sequentially. The RMUX16 card is an ideal addition for routine and screening measurements on small samples.
PMUX-S

PMUX-S

The PMUX-S power multiplexer is used to simultaneously contact the IM7/ZENNIUM series potentiostat with up to 16 individual cells. The measurements are carried out sequentially. For medium power applications, our power potentiostats can also be connected. The PMUX-S can be used for cell currents up to ±5 A.

BC-MUX

The battery cycling multiplexer BC-MUX is the link between the high power performances of your battery cycler and the EIS precision of our IM7/ZENNIUM potentiostats. The BC-MUX can address up to 16 channels to sequentially perform EIS measurements on the connected samples.
 
RMUX4 card

The RMUX4 card allows to simultaneously connect up to four electrochemical cells to the potentiostat. The RMUX4 card is designed for corrosion experiments and has high input impedance. The OCP at all channels can be measured simultaneously along with one active channel for e.g., EIS measurement.  Up to four RMUX4 cards can be installed in a ZENNIUM X or ZENNIUM PRO potentiostat which allows simultaneous connection to up to 16 electrochemical cells.

The corrosion measuring cell KMZ3 is a triple electrode cell for standard electrochemical measurements. The KMZ3 cell has different cell tops with standard taper joints (NS) for the insertion of the working and the counter electrodes, as well as the intermediate vessel with reference electrode and liquid junction tube including a "Haber Luggin capilary".

AMZ60

AMZ60

The area measuring cell AMZ60 is a triple electrode cell for electrochemical testing of coated samples. The AMZ60 aids in achieving high reproducibility for the measurements on coated or laminated samples.

Software

Zahner's software for controlling the IM7/ZENNIUM potentiostats and their extensions to carry out electrochemical and photoelectrochemical measurements. The Zahner Analysis software allows the characterization of measured data.
 
All our software have been developed in-house and have been customized to be used by the electrochemists. In-house development provides us with the needed flexibility and enables us to consider customer requirements for future development in the software.

Zahner Analysis

The Zahner Analysis software allows for fast and convenient evaluation of the measured electrochemical data. An advanced fitting algorithm and many other features for the characterization of EIS make this software a valuable tool for the interpretation of impedance data.

Python/C++ APIs

Zahner potentiostats and the Zahner Analysis Software can be controlled via various programming APIs, including Python and C++.

RMUX16 Cable Set

The RMUX16 Cable Set allows simultaneously connecting up to 16 cells to the ZENNIUM potentiostat (equipped with RMUX16 card) and the measurements on the cells can be carried out sequentially.

RMUX4 Cable Set

The RMUX4 Cable Set allows simultaneously connecting up to 4 cells to the ZENNIUM potentiostat (equipped with RMUX4 card) and the measurements on the cells can be carried out sequentially.

High Current Cable

The High Current Cable (length = 2 m) is a 95 mm2 thick cable set. The High Current Cable is used for measurements with currents up to 200 A.

EL1002 Cable Set

The EL1002 Cable Set is used to operate an EL1002 either with a ZENNIUM potentiostat or in stand-alone mode.

PP242 - Current Cable Set

The PP242 Current Cable Set is designed for use with the PP242 potentiostat for measurements with currents up to 40 A.

PP - Current Cable Set
